Has anyone actually replaced the front mounts on an X? I removed mine
today and had to cut away the rubber part on the bottom side so I could get a wrench on it. The nut was completely rusted away. What a pain....

I been to two parts stores and you cannot buy a new mounting kit from them. I guess I'll have to go to ford dealership on Monday.

Questions:

1. There is a larger rubber mount between the frame and the body, how do I get that out of there? And do I even need to replace that part?

2. Can I just buy a new bolt (mine is rusted bad) and the rubber nut/washer/mount thing-ee that the bolt threads into on the very bottom of the frame?

3. Do both sides need to be done? Mine only clunked on the drivers side.

Thanks Dale

According to my Ford dealer ,mounts are sold as one unit.90 $ each.
YC3C-1000155-GA and YC3C-1000154-AA.
You can change them on one side only if needed.

Thanks ZBIGBIG19TH

Does anyone know how to remove the larger rubber mount between the frame and cab ... or maybe that doen't get replaced?

It is sandwiched in there and I would need the to lift the body 1/2-inch (??) to remove it.

Thanks

Yes you have to jack up the body.
This is according to shop manual:
1)"Raise and support the vehicle body enough to allow the removal of the unserviceable upper body mount."
2)"when removing upper body insulators, all other body mount support bolts must be loose before raising the vehicle cab to prevent permanent structural damage from occurring to the vehicle cab."
3)"during installation do not use any lubricants on the body mounts or fasteners."
Note:
"Do not reuse body supporting fasteners. New fasteners must be installed for each fastener that has been removed or loosened."

Well according to Ford it's not as easy as it looks but.......
I'm sure ford technicians do not follow all this to change 1 body mount.
But, what do I know?

I used a floor jack and jacked it up the body right next to the rubber mount and the bushing slid right out. Now I'm off to the dealership this morning to buy a new body mount kit, I'll let you know how it goes.

I'm sure they will have to order the part, so this good take a couple of days.

I bought the parts today, $110.00 for everything. The Tech at the Ford Dealership said I could reuse the bigger bushing/mount ($69.71) between the frame and cab, he thought it looked good yet. But I’m not taking that chance, there was a lot of wear/rust on the inside of the bushing. Funny thing....Ford now includes a shim in the kit and mentions that in TSB 10-7-3.

I’ll get the part tomorrow but I won’t have time to replace it until Wednesday night. I’ll let you know the results.

I'd like to post pictures but I don't see how I can....I didn't start this post maybe thats why???

if you could take some picks of it with new shim i'd appreciate.
You can't post attachments cause you're not a supporter on FTE.
You think you could e-mail them to me?

ZBIGBIG19TH I PM'd you, I put the parts in tonight and I need your email address so I can send the pics. I'd like to post them but I'm not a paying member.

The shim part number 1C3Z-10000145-AA, WAS $4.32

This took care of the cluncking. I did not have a foot pound wrench so i will be going back and torquing it tomorrow to 87lbs.

Thanks
