Ok.... I think I figured it out.... I took off my carb, (which I have pics of but am not sure how to post on here since the gallery is not up yet) then took a look at the gasket that it sits on, it is very brittle and is very burnt in one spot, Ether it is burnt or has a lot of carbon or black soot-like stuff on it.
You will have to see the picture to see what I am talking about but, I think I have found my problem.
I think what is happening is, that I have a leak in that gasket, so it is causing my truck to run rough?
It didnt used to run like this, so I think the hole in the gasket has gotten worse.
If somone could inform me as to how I post a picture on here I can show you and maybe get some advice. thanks.
Also if my carb has a leaky gasket can that cause my truck to run poorly?
It doesn't fire on all 8 all of the time. It sputters and stutters untill it dies, and sometimes takes a while to warm up.
I hope that is it. I thought somebody asked you to try a leak test on the gaskets a while back... That is what happens when you don't keep all the info in one topic. Things get missed etc.
Right below the message panel ,do you not see the

That is where you access the file to your computer so the FTE computer can up-load it.
Also, Please Post ALL updated info to the Original thread.
It doesn't help by other's by starting a new thread.
It actually makes it worse for FTE user's.
If you were looking for the answer to a specific situation, would you like to sift through numerous threads to end up getting ALL the info you require,or Just One ?
Dave, do you have an EGR plate under there? They tend to burn out. Hot exhaust gasses you know. Anywho if you got one check it closely with a straight edge.
yes I do, and that is where the black burn't looking stuff Is comeing from, it looks like one port of the EGR valve is fine but it looks like the other one has been burnt, somone told me that I can by-pass the EGR valve? If that is true how do I do it ? If you cant understand what I am saying email me and I can send you the pictures, Tourque 1st please email me so I can send you what I am seeing.
ok well I checked the plate with a straight edge, it is fine, its the gasket between the EGR plate and my Intake that is bad, not my Carb. I thought it was my carb but didnt really look at it that well, it was dark and raining. If it is just the gasket between the EGR and intake would that cause my problem? My truck also seems to have goten worse runung worse and worse every day. Now I am not driveing it untill It is fixed, I just need to know how to bypass the EGr valve? Or is it even possible? I am working on it as we speak. Thanks for any help you can give me.I have started to create a website that I can post pics on and I have posted my problem areas on the site if anyone wants to take a look they are at ...
Dave,
If memory serves me the gasket that seals the exhaust passage under the spacer only had a round hole about 1/2" the gasses passed thru' but the passage itself was much bigger. The gasket would tend to burn out and carbon up but wouldn't be a problem unless the seal between passages went bad. Sometimes the exhaust gasses would erode the aluminum spacer causing a leak.
As far as bypassing the EGR: if the gasket is the only problem, just replace the gasket and leave the vacuum hose off the EGR valve. Or if the spacer is bad you could replace it with a non-EGR spacer. Of course if it is only the gasket, replace the gasket and leave the EGR hooked up. The engine will like it much better. (less pinging)
Hope this helps.
Greg
...If I were you...... I would either replace the EGR spacer or eliminate it. It only takes a little erosion of the spacer surfaces for the exhaust to leak into the intake, even with a new gasket.
..Especially if it's an aluminum spacer!

So I can ither go with a new spacer that would cost me how much money? Or leave it how it is replace the gaskets, and leave the EGR vacuum hose off ( which it was inthe first place ) and save money? What would I have to adjust if I bought a spacer and took out the EGR? What would be better? Replace gasket, or, replace gasket and spacer?.... I only have 50$ to spend so what would you recomend?
Sounds like its time for .09" aluminum and new gaskets to the rescue... I was thinking along thoes lines, I just wasnt sure if I could do that. So ok, today I am going to go to the auto parts store and buy the gaskets I need, replace them, and I will get back to you on how that goes.
ok well, I replaced the gaskets today, and ther was a small change in performance, it runs like crap still but not like crap... This is starting to get frustrating.....
Any other ideas on what my problem could be or what I can do to find the problem?
