I went from a Dodge Club Cab SB to a Crew Cab SB. I guess that adds maybe 2 feet to the overall length, give or take... The Dodge would U-turn nicely and wasn't too bad to park and maneuver. This CC needs a half acre to turn around and parking... well... I look for spots way out in the lots now because it's such a pain.
Are there any adjustments, stops, etc that can be tweaked to allow for a better turning radius? I remember on one of my previous pickups, there were stop nuts I was able to adjust to allow for a tighter turn. Another posters thread of changing out his front diff and springs to do all this got me thinking...
I don't have an answer to your question but I know there is a huge difference just going from a CCSB to a CCLB. Haha You should try mine sometime if you think yours is bad.
Hah!, It's bad when you have to start scoping out your parking maneuver before you even get there. I used to pull double dry vans and you want to talk about planning ahead to park... not much opportunity to back up there.
I am not aware of anything that can improve it, welcome to the world of land yachts...
At least you are better off than my wife was, she drives a 2002 civic 99% of the time, first time she took the SD to town shopping for some large items, I received a call asking just how the hel! she was supposed to park this thing......
I drive a CCLB and I have no issues parking. I used to park at the far end of the lots till I got used to it. Now I've just learned that if there is 2 parking spots in front of eachother I take them both. I have about 2-4 ft hangin into the other spot behind me. I've also learned that people dont really yell at ya for doin so. Or at least here in yuppieville. I think they are scared of a guy who drives a diesel and can run them over w/o havin to worry about scratching the truck. Its kinda funny when you gotta park in a shallow area and your *** end is stickin out into the roadway and your tow ball is stickin out there in the lane and watchin people get real close and then swerve away so they dont open the side of the car like a can opener. Anyways you will get used to it soon enough. Just remember to swing wide match your front fender to the rear fender of the other vehical and back up and then cut hard. You'll be just fine
