Does anyone remember which letter is for which truck in the vin in 94? I know there was a different letter for each of the 3 different motors. I had it wrote down but of course either lost it or threw it away. I have a 94 found real cheap and just want to know for sure what it is. I know its not a powerstroke but there are still a bunch of parts I can use on mine. 4x4 extended cab just like mine with aftermarket slotted aluminum wheels on it. I think I can buy it for 700 bucks max. He said it has a fairly fresh tranny, said the motors been changed 3000 miles ago but I don't know about that, rebuilt transfer case. Said there is something electrical wrong and it won't start. I might buy it and see if I can get it running first then decide what to do with it. I'm blabbing, I'll shutup.
The first 3 letters are the manufacturer, the forth digit is the class, the 5th, 6th and 7th denote the model and cab. The 8th is the engine, ninth is a check digit, 10th is the model year, 11th is the assembly plant and the last 6 are the vehicle unit number. I do know that "F" is for the 7.3 powerstroke diesel.
