I have a 2004 F-150 and had to replace my instrument panel with one from a salvage yard. It had about 8,000 miles less then my old instument panel. Does anyone know how to reset the new unit? Is it tied to other items in the computer and how do I get them all in sync? Or, do I just not worry about it? Thanks!! Some Ford Dealerships will do it...but the majority will not. They worry about Odometer fraud.
the only 100% time I know that Dealerships will do it is if you buy a brand new cluster from them and let them do the install. That way they know with legal certainty it's correct. otherwise, it's just your word saying the mileage is correct.
Legally, I say yes, get it programmed.
from a cost standpoint...why bother? unless you upgraded to a Lariat/KR Inst. Cluster. Then you need the programming to enable certain functions on the Can Bus.
