The point I was making is that if you have debris as high as the IPR, chances are you have debris everywhere. That would be a lot of cleaning and parts replacing, and still have an engine that probably will fail later.

Well, I managed to get the techs report from the dealership and this is what it states:

"Oil contaminated, losing oil pressure. Ran high pressure oil leak diagnostic. Replaced ICP sensor due to bias reading 1200 psi all the time. Replaced IPR valve due to debris found in oil system and IPR stuck. Found debris in low pressure oil system. R&I low pressure oil pump. R&I and flush oil cooler. Replaced oil pressure regulator. Flushed low oil pressure system due to debris. Changed engine oil twice. Retest and test drove truck still losing low pressure oil pressure and dying."

I'm no mechanic, but this doesn't sound good. Any thoughts?

YEP! My vote....replace the engine. Your dealer is doing the right thing. Sounds like they are quite qualified.

Still sounds like they threw quite a few parts at it, FICM, suppose that was low oil pressure also. But now we are hearing more of the story.

Sorry Vince, you were right all along.....but that was an expensive diagnosis.

I'm finding out the hard way that everything about these newer trucks is expensive!

I should have held on to my old 7.3 IDI.

With oil pressure issues, it wouldn't suprise me that there was some very odd codes. That can be easily construed to be ficm related (depending on the codes). The proper thing to do, would be to diagnose the codes to confirm the validity of each one. They could have easily "jumped the gun" and determined it to be a bad FICM. Would like to see all of the story.

Sorry for my post as well, when reading the tech's report they did mention a pressure test. The IPR info is interesting though, something to remember in case

Thanks for the feedback so far. Here is the latest in this complicated saga:

I contacted the other dealership (where I had the heads redone 2 months ago) and let them know what has happened and that I believe there is a stong possibility that my engine oil was contaminated while at their facility. The service manager has been proactive and good to deal with so far. After confirming my story with dealership #1, he has agreed to do further investigation and make things right if they are indeed at fault. He agreed to pay dealership #1 for everything but the FICM. He has also agreed to pay to have the truck towed back to his facility so he can have his technicians assess the damage to the engine. Where we go from there will depend on what is discovered when they tear into the engine. Do you guys think this is fair and legit?

I'll keep updating this thread as things develop and let you all know the outcome.

Joe,

I absolutely feel your pain. BTDT. There is a place in Texas that sells remanufactured engines for around $5500 plus your core. Seems like that plus a couple grand for installing is less than $15000. When my 04 engine went TU I looked for a long time for the right deal to come along. Search at car-part.com for a low mileage engine. This is a salvage yard search site and worked for me. ood Luck

Regards
