I have an opportunity to buy a very clean 59 F100 longbed that has a 223 6cyl in it. The only problem with the truck is the engine is locked up. I have a very good running low mileage 215 from a 53 f100 and i was wondering if anyone knew if the 215 would bolt up the same (as far as motor mounts front and rear) as the 223? I know its kinda going backwards as far as horsepower goes but Im thinking about buying the truck if i'd be able to use the engine i already have to get it going again. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
The 215 evolved into the 223 and then 26(?) something. I've had all three while searching for a good 215 to put into my 52. I've found that all of the engines are the same in terms of size and mounting, except for a few minor differences between 1952 and 1953 (the front motor mounts are cast into the timing chain cover on a 1952, while 1953+ is bolted onto the timing chain cover).
I don't think that you'll have any mounting/fit issues.
Thanks, i appreciate the response. From the parts catalogs i was looking at it looked like the rubber part of the engine mounts were the same but the bracket that bolts to the front of the engine was different. I guess id just have to take the bracket off the 223 and put on the 215.
