Not that i could ever afford to do it but I would like to see one done .Of course it would need to be beefed up in the front but if your building a custom truck you are not gonna leave the 50 plus year old suspension in it anyway.Look in the deisel performance magazines and there are guys puting Duramax`s in S10`s and Camaros and racing them.I think a `56 with with a pumped up Powerstroke would be cool as hell.

Kahuna,
I am planning on installing a 7.3L Powerstroke and 4R100 transmission in my 48 F1. Follow the link to the Dakota front crossmember install I posted earlier.

Industrial Chassis of Phoenix did the frame work and boxed the frame all the way to about the back of the cab and installed a tubular center crossmember to stiffen up the frame and to straighten it out. This should make the frame stout enough for the 932 pound (dry) 7.3L Powerstroke. I also have the stiffest springs Dodge made for the 1989 Dakota.
Sizewise the 7.3L is about the same size as the 460 Ford and only about 150-200 pounds heavier.
