Mine is automatic (vacuum operated valve) using the DieselSite.com kit. Nice bit of kit....
I have the same kit as Izzy. But, I have to say I haven't seen an improvement. The A/C works great if it's early in the morning or at night when the temps are normal by my standards which is 70+ degrees. But when it's 100+ the A/C blows luke warm air.
I've put in 2 cans of freon, there are no leaks that I can see. Any ideas on why the A/C is still not cold during the height of the day? Or is it because the A/C unit is no match for the Southern Cali heat? I know those boys in AZ have hotter weather than us so it's got to be something.
FYI I came up with a pair of methods using brass ball valve assemblies.... will be glad to update here as well later this summer with pictures - when I'm done with the "Gooch flush-fill treatment."
R & D Alpha method uses 4 ball valves in "H" format
R & D Bravo method uses 2 3-wqy ball valves in "H" format as well
Both use 1/2" ID pipe on all parts for the 5/8" hose
