Red Head Steering Gears

After fiddlefarting around with the factory steering gear I managed to finally screw it up. It became so tight in the center only that it was unbearable to drive. This all happened after a half round or so of adjustment. For some reason, I could not back off the adjustment...it was locked up.
Being faced with a 1200mile round trip drive to go skiing, I decided to throw in the towel and buy a new gear from the subject Co. Not cheap, but superior to the factory setup, and it was more of a delight to drive. Koodos to them. It also showed up in 2 days. they cleverly use a flat rate shipping box, which makes shipping like $15.

Now I still have an issue that I may be imagining, but the wife agrees(a rarity). The sway and tightness of the gear is gone, but there seems like there is not enough power assist. It's not bad, but it seems like it could be better.

Does anyone know if there is a factory procedure other than hooking pressure guages to the pump? Like a force guage on the steering wheel to measure turning resistance?

There is a procedure for increasing the pump flow and pressure that is outlined at West Texas Offroad.

Did you remove the plastic little plugs that are installed at the factory before hooking up the hoses? That could block flow!
