hello i have been fighting with this truck for a while now and tried a long list of thing in the tech folder for no starts. now i have a few questions 1. how do you preform a compression test and 2. is it true that the truck will still run with a blown headgaskets. I was told by a tech that a compression test will not tell me if i have a blown head gaskets and that the truck will still run with a blown headgaskets. the truck turns over but wont start and it spins at about 200 rpms. thanks in advance
On a diesel you test compression by sticking the gauge in the Glow plug hole. Its basically just a pressure gauge if you have weak pressure while cranking then it could be a number of things not just head gaskets. There are a lot easier ways to test for blown headgaskets, such as testing coolant for exhaust gases. An engine will still run with blown headgaskets.
read this thread from the tech folder. This is a common problem and there is a lot of information out there about it. Try reading the tech folder or doing a search in the future.
Also you didn't provide any information, but the 6.0 has a 5year/100k mile warranty. If you are still under warranty take it in to a dealer.
