Ok, im really starting to get pissed at this 29 year old piece of s*** called a truck. I have pulled every single engine componet, with the exception of the main bearings and the pistons (the connecting rods, pistons, and connected parts), and the crank.
So, i am attempting to push the piston (#1) up through the top of the motor. It will go to TDC, but then stops. What is goin on here, and is there a way to solve it without an expensive tool that i will not know how to use, then have to ask someone, proceed to get angry pull the truck to the garage where a pro. will make it look so damn easy.
Quite frankly, i am fed up with these tools (up to $1496 already) and how to use them.
And the engine is still in the truck. (pulled the oil pan by unbolting the motor mounts at the frame, putting a jack under the oil pan ((with a block of wood on the jack)) the jacking the motor up and putting a 2x4 under the motor mounts between the mount and frame.)

Reason: wrong number key
You have a ring groove at the top of the cylinder wall that the ring is hitting. With a piston down in the block feel the cylinder wall right at the top you'll feel the edge of the original bore hole. Disconnect the rods from the crank (put the rod cap and nuts back on the rod they came off of and in the same direction) take the crank out if you want, and drive the pistons out with a hammer handle or a block of wood on the rod cap. If you had a ridge reamer it would make it easier but they are not cheap and I see your not into buying more tools. You might break a piston but it sounds like your going to have to get it bored anyway and that means over sized pistons.
Over a period of time, the rings wear the cylinder wall up to piston TDC just below the top of the cylinder. That ridge must be removed in order to get the piston out the top as the rings will catch on the ridge.
Stick yer hand in the cylinder and at the top where the piston is stopping you will feel a lip. It's the ridge left from the piston wear. It must be removed with a cylinder hone or ridge reamer.
Get a cheap cylinder hone. The kind with ***** not flat stones. Hone the cylinders just at the top with the intention of tapering the ridge. Just a minute or so and it will fall out. But don't pull the damn hone out of the hole when it is spinning cuz ya will only do that once
