I just purchsed a 68 F100 last weekend Yesterday my rear lights, turn signals and brake lights stopped working. I also lost the wipers.
Looks like the wipers and turn signals are on the same fuse (from what I looked up online) which I changed and the wipers worked for about 10 seconds and the new fuse blew again. The turn signals also worked for those 10 seconds but only on the front of the truck, rear was still nothing.
Wondering why I blew anonther fuse right away and why I have zero lighting on the rear of the truck.
Short! I think I'd start looking around the dash for a wire with a skinned place touching metal. If you hadn't thrown the wipers in I'd have said start behind the rear bumper.
3 wires run the rear lights. 1 for tail & license plate, 1 each for turns and brakes.
If the wipers are on the same fuse as the turn signals. I would look at the back many times there has been a butch job done to wire up a trailer plug that eventually causes problems.
Check inside the column. Had a brake light problem and somebody had been in there messing with wires. It was a mess. I know the brake, turn, and parking lights all run through the blinker switch in the column. It very well could be shorting in the column. You will have to pull the steering wheel.
