Greetings all,
Been a while since I've been here...mostly because it's been a while since I had a problem/question with my Ford, but now I do so 'm back.
I've got a 2005 F-150 Super Crew. I just started in on a front brake job to include changing the roters...what the heck size are the front spindle nuts??? I got them off (amazingly) with a 1 1/2 socket but it's a very sloppy fit. But, I can't get them torqued back on with the same socket. I just went through 4 friend's tool boxes and 2 local tool stores but nothing any of them had had fits right. Is it metric or standard? What the heck size is it? Appreciate the help.

I have an 04 supercab 2wd. My axle nuts were 36mm. They are also torqued at 300 ft/lbs so make sure you use a little elbow grease.
Many thanks....so it is metric?!? I was thinking it should have been a standard size but that's what I get for thinking. 10-4 on the torque...that's what started the problem...I couldn't get it torqued with the 1 1/2 socket I had...only tried it once before it slipped, and I didn't want to screw up the nut further. I don't mind buying tools but may be a few moons before I ever need a 36mm again LOL. Many thanks.
Pretty much every fastener on your truck will be metric.....yes a few 13's will use a 1/2 socket fine....but figure if you've got a vehicle after 2000ish its going to be all metric
