I finally broke down and bought a tool box/chest. I also bought a 170 piece socket set. Over the years sockets have disappeared and ive got 5 of one socket size and none of the other and I just said to heck with it, im buying a new set and keeping my sockets here, no more lending them out, as well as the keeping the rest of my tools nicely organized in a tool box. The last straw was when I changed my alternator out last sunday and I spent more time looking for the right socket and wrench size than it took me to do the job.
I like the look of these but I really want something that will fit snugly in one or two of my drawers.
I dont want the type strips that you just clip the sockets to.
Ideally a tray with all the holes and labels for each socket size it what I want. Im not against making my own either, thought about maybe using some plywood and drilling a hole for each socket, but then would have to figure out how to label each hole but I guess that isnt a necessity, but it would be nice.
My small drawers are 22"x10.5 inch, the deeper drawers are 22" x 15"
I found the same kind at harbor freight for just over 10 buck i picked up.... I think it might be better, its black and more like abs plastic....a friend of mine has the crafstman one and its hard plastic.
I trimmed a little off of them though. They were just under 16 inches deep and my drawer max is just about 15 5/16
