howdy! I'm a new member here and have some questions about converting my 1973 F100 2wd to power steering. Now, first and foremost i looked through the site searching for help and didn't find what i was looking for so...I decided to post up. I didn't want to be "that guy" who doesn't search first.
Quick breakdown on my truck
360cid motor
3spd manual column shift CONVERTED TO FLOOR SHIFT.
front disc brakes
I know i have to get the following parts
--2 grove crankshaft pully
--power steering bracket
--power steering box
--high and low presure hoses
--power steering pump
NOW......the debate is about the steering column length. My 3spd tree-shift has been converted to floor shift.. so what inner column should I use? Please, oh great and wonderous F100 owners, please lend a hand.
If anyone has any good links to articles about this swap, i'd love to read or see them..
Ok, I have a 73 F100 2WD, 3 sp manual column shift and manual steering. I am converting it to an automatic with power steering.
What are the differences between the 2WD and 4WD integral boxes? I hear Saginaw is the way to go.
Can I use the same pitman arm, assuming I have a manual Sag box now?
It also came with it also came with manual front disc brakes I am going to power brakes, maybe hydro boost?? any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks
i'm with you guys...power steering is gonna be something i want to upgrade to eventually with power brakes also...is there a write up on the power steering conversion...i couldn't find a link in all my searching.

First of all, I googled your used name, clever! Secondly, the inner column will have no affect on your power steering. You simply need to find a power steering box and bolt it in. I dont believe there are any differences in column lengths as long as you source from a 2wd.
I have managed to get a rebuilt PS box for $40 from a guy on craigslist. They bought it for their 75 F100, but never installed it. I also have negotiated for a steering column complete with trans shift linkage for $100. Now I need to get a power brake booster and MC for the brake conversion.
