Rear Drum Removal help

It appears I need to remove the rear axle? I have a F-250 dana 60. Just bought the rear disc kit. Just need some advice/help getting the drums off. I wasn't sure, but I removed the rear axle (8 bolts). Got that out and have been pounding about an hour. Keep pounding or am I missing something? Nice thing is I have the bed off so I can get from the rear.

You have to remove the two axle nuts that are in the center of the hub.

LOL. I'll have to look tomorrow then. The axle is pulled and it was getting dark. Sounds like I'm in the right direction.

Okay looked this morning and I do not see what you are saying. I have a dana 60. Are you sure they are the same?

There is another way, take a screwdriver and knock a little notch into the nut, just big enough to let the screwdriver grip it, and give it a good whack with a hammer, it should loosen it. You can spin it out by hand after that. Be careful where you make the notch, though, try to do it on the top edge of the nut, not on the side. When you put it back together, be sure you tighten those things good, you do not want that axle shaft falling out on the highway!
