It appears I need to remove the rear axle? I have a F-250 dana 60. Just bought the rear disc kit. Just need some advice/help getting the drums off. I wasn't sure, but I removed the rear axle (8 bolts). Got that out and have been pounding about an hour. Keep pounding or am I missing something? Nice thing is I have the bed off so I can get from the rear.
There is another way, take a screwdriver and knock a little notch into the nut, just big enough to let the screwdriver grip it, and give it a good whack with a hammer, it should loosen it. You can spin it out by hand after that. Be careful where you make the notch, though, try to do it on the top edge of the nut, not on the side. When you put it back together, be sure you tighten those things good, you do not want that axle shaft falling out on the highway!
yeah I was going to post back saying that is what I did. Now just need some direction in getting my disc kit installed. Can't figure out how the brackets go on LOL
