i have a friend with an 05 superduty that has some airbags on the rear spings, since he doesn't tow anything heavy they are useless to him and is willing to sell them to me for about 150.00. my question is will they be easy to modify into my 96 f250? is it worth it? if not what would be a reasonable price for them considering they would need to be fitted into my truck.
I'm running firestone air bags made for an 05. IIRC I had to modify the one bracket, cut/weld shorter I belive...... but they work great. Mount on the inside of the spring under the frame. Only problem is over 15-20 lbs empty will jar you out of the truck, with a load smooth as silk
IIRC they are like $400 and change new so as long as they come with everything that he installed them with then yes that is a good deal. And you also want to make sure that the bags are not ripped and that they still hold air.
I love mine! With the big *** 5er I bought I thought I would have to buy a 1 ton dually and start all over again with the mods. Firestone cancelled that idea!
Very minor modifications to get them to work, you are good to go. $140 is cheap if they dont leak. Just be sure to always leave atleast 5lbs in the bags at all times so they dont collapse, thats when they rip.
79_f250 rangerlariet do you think that you could post some pics of the way you put them in? i installed mine and the seam to rub just a hair on the tires. i didnt modify anything so maybe thats why. i run 285/75/16 on stock rims, could this be that they are rubbing? i drove the truck about 30 miles since i put them on and they just seam to rub when the suspension compresses some cause they haven't gotten damaged. please help if you can. thanks

I posted some pics in my gallery (forgot how to post in a post). Where are your bags centered? Mine are almost directly under the frame. Definately don't want any rubbing
