86 Bronco 2 Problems. Computer? Fuel Enrichment? HELP PLEASE!
I just got my 1986 Ford Bronco 2 a few months ago. I love it, it ran great. Its a 2.9 v6 4X4 automatic. Two weeks ago it started acting up. It would die as soon as I took it out of park unless I kept my foot on the gas. I gave it new plugs, wires, distibuter cap, rotor, and air filter. Tried to fire it up. Would start and die if I didn't touch the gas. If I touched the gas it wouldn't fire up at all. I replaced the fuel filter. Tried to fire it up and it started. It ran really badly. After idling for awhile, when I pushed on the gas black smokes comes up from the tail pipe, then clears up as I keep the gas on. It will not fire in the mornings when the weather is cold, but will when it warms up in the afternoon. My mechanic friend hooked it up to the code computer, but couldn't get it to read. My brother and I hooked it up to a voltmeter, and it wouldn't read anything. Everyone agrees that I have a fuel problem, I am getting way too much fuel. I have been told my computer is bad, I have also been told my fuel enrichment sensor is bad. Im in dire straights without my truck. I am a single mom who must travel forty miles to college. I had about the same problem with my 90 B2, and it was the fuel pressure regulator. The engine was over fueling and burned out the sensors and both catalitic converters. Mileage dropped to about 10 mpg.

my 86 2.9 stick is doing this aswell. im gonna try to get a new reg and o2 today. howmany 02's do these trucks have just the 1?
myne will actually stumble at 1200 rpm and my idm line is bad. so myne will back on the road soon i hope. i may just let the idm go though. taking the spout connector off sorta worksaround this for me.

well i just put mjy fuel pressure reg on and she still does it. on another post a guy told me my dist stator may be shot but myne is acting a lil differently. as soon as mom get home with my tools (in the trunk of her car) ill put the o2 in and see what happens. as a note the 86 had one o2 and it is in the pipe righ before the flange. oughta be fun its got 18 years of rust and mud on it.
