I have a 1976 f350 supercab that I recently purchased it has a 390 according to the tag on the door it gives an A for the transmission. It is my understanding that this means that it is a 4 speed manual New Process 435. I took off the floor plate and it dont appear to be a New Process trans. I believe the New Process is a cast iron body top loading with an aluminum cover this is all cast iron. The tag I found located on the top cover right rear bolt reads D3T3-EBI or EB1 I cannot locate any info on these numbers? This trans needs a new speedometer drive gear. It is a 7 tooth gear with a left hand twist which I cannot locate either. What transmission is this?? Is this the right type of twist for this gear? I have found one with the opposite twist that fits an older mustang.
just had a look at the link for the Domestic Truck Tranny Guide and it looks like ur right T-18. I am kind of wondering now if this is a 390 or a 360 its a 2bbl and not a four like it says but it does look like a 390. Thanks
