You know, with a little bit of extra work the guy could have rounded off the corners of the interior panels to match the curve of the add-on glass....would have looked alot better on the inside.
(wow, ain't it easy to criticize other peoples work?) Overall, I wouldn't kick it out of my garage
Of all the Craig's List and eBay ads that have been critiqued here, I wonder how many of these guy's ears were burning. The guy is just wanting to unload a truck and we have almost 20 post about it. I'm not saying the posts are wrong, I think they're just as proper as a bunch of guys standing around in a shop and shooting the bull anything else. I just think it's kind of funny.
Unless the seller can back his claims up, he's just as much a B.S'er as anyone. Sure, when it comes time to sell, everything becomes rare! Ford flatheads turn into mercurys, 352FE's turn into 390s, all 351M are clevelands and 272 yblocks are 312s and cootie-bobed panels become handyman specials!
I've been to the ford archives and would like to think I have alot of literature, but outside of total production #'s for different models, I don't know where these ebay guys come up with the low productions #'s, especially for options!
Lighten up alittle...LOL
The guy is selling a panel truck....it is not going into the Smithsonian Institute....LOL....And it is rare. All these 50 yr old trucks are getting rarer every day.
Amen 4speed! I'm glad we think alike! Every Y block is a T bird 312 LMAO! Its no different that a NOVA with a CORVETTE 350. What I'd like to know is where are all the Corvettes without engines? LOL
Im not a fan of those windows. Like stated before they dont look right.
OK Here are a couple of pics of the only surviving (so far) F 100 window conversion done by Siebert on this 55 Ranger. An unknown fact until this truck was discovered last year, that they didn't use wood like in the earlier F-1s, they actually went to the trouble of making two giant aluminum castings to roll the outer sheet metal into, to form the new side windows, a left, and a right side casting, I suppose, as the wood frame type formed window openings, deteriorated too fast. Wood was attached around this aluminum framing, a remaining filler piece is seen here in the center void of the mullion, for the purpose of attaching the interior panels to. You can see how the original metal upright side supports were trimmed away a little extra, to accept the wood that was to surround the new aluminum frames.
The eBay seller is probably just going by what he was told, fact or fiction. How many original designers and builders of these trucks are even left and of those that are left I doubt many would scour want ads and web sites to verify anything related to these old trucks.
The farther away these old trucks get from original assembly the more likely they're going to get less factory original. There's going to be to a point where other than dusty museum pieces, no vehicle will be a majority original. I've given up a long time ago trying to keep my vehicles factory stock. I build them to drive, I keep them as close to factory stock as possible but I'm not going to wait until I fine the exact Ford OEM bolt to hold something together. I want to drive it! If I can find a comparable part I'll use it to keep it on the road.

DITTO.....I also try to keep my fleet stock, but not worried about it. I am not going to chop or channel anymore.(my auto body days)! I may build a few hot rod trucks soon, but most times you have to believe that these old trucks will be rare and scarce as time goes on.......and I will continue to collect as many as I can. Another one coming in a few weeks.
It is stock with original paint ....I was told. I hope so,but it is like a treasure hunt to find them.
