I have a 351 w/ with a c-6 tranny, that has a problem with the transmission cooler , inside the radiator. My trans. fluid has gotten "milky" and I have been told the line inside the radiator must have a pin hole in it.
Can this radiator be fixed or is there another remedy, such as an auxilery cooler that will sufficiently cool the fluid? The radiator is a thick one and probably expensive. Any help is appreciated.
I have heard of people running just a aux cooler, but in the winter the radiator helps the tranny fluid warm up quicker, and the instructions with the aux coolers always tell you to keep the radiator cooler with the aux cooler.
One more problem you may have. If you take the tranny lines off the radiator, you may have to plug them somehow or you might have a coolant leak if your cooler has a pinhole.
It sounds like the best thing to do, is buy a new radiator. Plugging the tranny lines at the radiator would not be a problem, but I never thought about the coolant warming the trans. fluid when it is cold. Thanks for the quick reply.
