My 79 F150 uses a radiator that has a trans cooler for an auto trans cooler.... my truck has a manual trans, so the cooler has been plugged off. However, the cooler still had fluid in it and it blew up inside the radiator..... Not I have gunk in my coolant.... nasty brown jelly globs...
This will be my first time cleaning up a mess like this....
I know I can get a flush fitting for a garden hose. I also know that I can connect it directly to the hot water heater to get hot water which is better.... What I wanted to know is if anybody has done this and used anything added to the radiator to get that stuff out of everywhere and also is there some other fitting I can use to the top of the radiator, because that is there this stuff seems to love to sit?
Go to the parts house and buy a quart of Permatex radiator flush and follow the directions on the bottle. No need to add any fittings. This stuff works good by just adding it to clear water in the system and running it up to tempereature. At the Kenworth dealer where I work, we use a product called Restore. It ia a Cummins product. It probably works better than the Permatex stuff for oil residue but might not be as easy to find. Try your local Cummins dealer. It is used just like the Permatex...................
