Cloudy Mirrors

The side mirrors on my 1999 Expedition are very dark and cloudy. Has anyone else had this problem? I believe they're defective.

Let me know.

We had the same thing on our 99'. We noticed it shortly after purchasing the truck. The dealer had a way of cleaning the mirrors in a certain manner and since then, we have not had a problem. Replacing the mirrors out of warrenty would have cost approx $300.00 each. Good luck.

Cloudy Mirrors

Just this morning I looked out the driver's side window of my 99 Expedition and was reminded that my rear view mirror ( the type with the turn signal in it ) was discolored and all scratched up. When I first saw the staining I thought it was from the water I have here in the country. The scratches are from an ice scraper. I've never seen scratches on a rear view mirror from a ice scraper before. I am going to call my dealer and maybe Ford Motor Company. There is definitely something wrong with these mirrors.

If you are having problems with the glass, try giving Muth mirrors a call (address and phone number can be found in the archives of http://Xpedition.net). They have been helping out a bunch of the guys and gals with the Expedition Owners group for free.

Hope this helps.

Hi,
Well i was reading your thing about u having trouble with your expedition mirrors. I had the same problem. If they are the mirrors with the turn signals then they can be replaced free of charge, under warrenty, because ford had a recall on them... they did not notify the public, they only told the dealers. SO take your car into the dealer and tell them a friend told me these were being recalled cause they cloud up and scratch..... they will fix it, Mine are fine now.....

I found out that many of the mirrors on 97-2000 expi's were recalled call this number and more than likely you will get a free replacement from the mirror company with just a short few questions!(1-800-844-6616)

Does the mirror recall apply to the heated mirrors also? Has anyone had a clouding problem with the heated mirrors? So far my side mirrors (heated) appear to be OK.
