#5 misfire
Rick,
I know it's been a while since you last posted about this. Did you ever check the Idle Air Control? I'm having an issue where my 2000 Explorer was stalling out at idle. This threw a #5 misfire code.
I did some Google research, and found out it was probably the IAC. Also some guy was having problems with his IAC acting up when he ran his AC. The IAC opens up a bit more when the AC is on. (to account for the extra load)
So, I tried turning the AC on, to see if it would open the IAC a little more, and keep the engine from stalling out. It worked!
Clearly I need to replace mine. It's still idling a bit rough. Anyway, I just thought you might want to check it out. You can even try spraying a little "tune-up-in-a-can" into the throtle body to see if it provides a temporary fix.
