It shouldn't take over 40 psi. Make sure you are going counterclockwise. Just hit it towards a corner.

done the air hammer trick allot worked on every vehicle i did it to, mostly chevys and fords.

i only remove fan when i changing a waterpump so the pumps shot to begin with,
