^^yeah so, there are TSB's out. It's not like people had to have their entire tranny replaced. I don't call a dozen or two people complaining on here as "lots of owners having problems"
I thought I brought up some valid points about letting the truck learn your driving style. My brother does not read these forums but he just got a 2010 FX4 recently and he was asking me about the tranny and that it seemed to be hunting around for gears/shifting strange. I said it give it some time to learn your driving style and it should feel better. Already a few weeks later he says it does feel better.
Obviously like I said if someone feels a major problem, then go get it checked out.

If they feel a minor problem they should get it checked out. If it turns out to be unfixable and they need to lemon law it, that date will be critical. Don't need to take the tranny issues personal unless you designed them.
I'm not taking it personal but you make it sound like if there's any little tranny problem, then the truck is junk/a lemon. If that was the case Ford would quit selling the trucks with these 6-speeds and perform a recall (haha, yeah right...)

No man. I am unequivocally not saying the truck is junk. The trucks are great. What I am saying is if you are one of the people who is having problems, get it in, get it documented because if you have to lemon law it, the date you first reported it is critical. Having lemon lawed a 07 Expedition and bought a 08 Expedition-brand loyalty-I know what I am talking about. I don't hold it against Ford.
Just bought mine a couple of weeks ago. 5.4 6spd Super crew 4x4. I love it. It shifts flawlessly. About the only thing that I can comment on is that it seems a little too eager to downshift going up grades when the torque of the 5.4 is more than adequate to keep the speed up without downshifting. I only have 1,100 miles on it though.
I have a 2010 F150. Starting at 3,000 miles the transmission will shutter violently when gently accelerating between 30-35 mph. My local dealer can't fix it. They checked the computer updates. They tried changing the torque converter but didn't help. Taking it back again this Monday. They said a new one on the lot does the same thing.

This is what dealers say when they don't know what to do. I would start filling out lemon law paperwork and file it. This will get their attention. It's not designed to shutter.
On this whole 6spd tranny movement among the oem's, There is much more hunting for gears than there ever was with a 4 spd auto. The reason is that they are programmed to be in the gear that requires the least amount of effort by the engine to conserve fuel. So even though the 5.4L has the torque, backing up one gear and using engine speed to maintain speed actually uses less fuel than lugging the engine in 6th. For every gear available, there are multiple places in the fuel/throttle position vs Gear maps that fuel usage crosses a couple other gears could be used to satisfy the input. The PCM decides for you what gear you should be in. If you change your accelerator position, or start climbing a hill, The PCM sees a change, and adapts. The PCM samples this data multiple times a second. My opinion is that if they would slow down the sampling just a little bit, customers may 'feel' the car being a little smoother, just from less rapid adjustments being made.
But that said, I'm no engineer, so what do I know....... Just my .02
a friend of mine works at a ford dealership and he said there have been two new 150's come in with identical transmission problems. I guess there is some plastic piece in the tranny and both of them broke, the one tranny suffered a fried tourque converter(it was purple) and fried fluid. He didn't know what they found out about the other one.
Thank you, very helpful information. It will be tough for me to go there and tell them their business. My guess is when Ford figurers it out there will be a recall.

You would think, but there has been no recall for the 07 Expeditions with the same tranny and same problems.
