saw the posting on pickup trucks.com Ford I guess could not wait or they would have beat them.

GM Frame is still not as strong as it needs to be but most won't take that into account.

GM always trys to outpower the competition, just the way it is. The most power doesn't always mean the better vehicle or the most sales though. The diesel power wars are starting to get out of hand. Won't be long now before people start wrecking trucks from unpredicted wheelspin. GM may want to consider put on normal sized tires to help aid in traction.

I am about to loss my man card here, but.....

What is the point in so much HP and TQ in a light duty truck? I would be way more happy to loose 100 HP and 100 ftlbs of TQ to get my miliage back into the 20+ MPG city.

Where do I turn in my man card.

I noticed that the payload and towing capacity of the Ford still exceeds the others by a large margin. Chevy may boast the best HP, but the frame, tranny and axles won't take the stress when you put it to work.

Anyone else have a hard time finding the valve cover on the duracrap? At least with the 6.0 and the 6.4 you can still visually find a valve cover.

Agreed and did anyone find the turbo?

Overall this doesn't surprise me that a little reflashing can get you a bit more power but I think that we are starting to get into the territory where brute engine power is more or less limited by the gearing. At least that's my theory

I'm guessing that GM is ahead of the game on transmissions, since they are already using Allison transmissions.

I wonder if i could transplant a AT545 out of a T444E equipped school bus? Hmmmmm.

What axles are under a GM, Dana's or corporate's? Seems to me, the limiting factor is the strength of the driveline. We hear all the upgrades to the engines, transmissions, but never for the axles.

At some point GM and Ford will be lobbying for a increase in the weight limits for light duty trucks, and the CDL requirements that are going to follow any more upgrades to the towing and payloads of these trucks.

Start adding heavier axles and transmissions, they're gonna need higher limits to keep the difference between GCWR and the curb weight as large as they can. That difference is what the truck is 'legally' capable of doing, towing and (GVWR - curb weight) payload.

( pssst, when do we get air brakes on the 450's? huh, huh? )

well lets see... can you find the chevy in the engine bay? doubt it since the dmax is produced by isuzu! and as far as the tranny, the allison the first couple years sucked and had a ton of issues. i prefer an eaton-fuller. but if they have the bugs worked out the allison is the best thing chevy has worked out. and the power ratings, if you're first out with your numbers you can always be beat by the guys who wait so they can tweak and tweak to get better than yours!

Ya, I agree, 7 Hp and 35tq better. Please.... Don't waste my time. Ford could beat that by just changing the oil to a full out synthetic premium oil, and some cetane booster.

Does Eaton-Fuller make automatics? I thought that they made the best MANUAL trans......

Allison is a name more than anything. Branding works, the companies current engine or trans could be a piece of junk but if the last one was great lots of people will think the new ones are great too.
