im buying carpet and ive done alot of shopping and was wondering what you guys thought. i also need door sills and headliner trim.
lmc has the sills and carpet but not my color-carpet $169.
summit has no sills or trim but has carpet $153. but it says it gets it carpet from ohio auto mat ( ive tried to find website but cannot) yet its part number the last 3 digits are the same 849 as acc. so would ohio auto mat selling summit acc carpets?
a1 has acc carpet $151. #849
acc sells for $227. #849
npd has carpet $152. but it lists its years as 65-73 and 74-79. the color i want is #849 but is listed as 74-79 and not offered in 73.
does this mean that all sites that have 849 as the last 3 #s all get the carpets from acc? if so then it wouldnt matter where i bought from right?
also the hump in my reg cab colum steering has bolts so i think i read somewhere that it means i need a high hump carpet?
wow great price. but they list the same as npd. 65-73 and 74-79. i thought it went 65-72 and 73-79. also im still not sure if i have a low hump or high hump. its bolted on.
From your post it looks like you are trying to redo your interior to a high standard.
If that's the case, you should know ACC carpet is crap. The actual carpeting they sell is nowhere close to the original carpeting Ford used. I tried their stuff once and sent it back. It was cut wrong and I was very disappointed in their so-called "quality".
I think there's a company in Oregon that specializes in high quality interior fabrics and they sell carpeting, too. Hopefully someone will post a link to them.
Guess I am the odd one. I used A1 carpet years ago and am really happy with the quality and the durability, though I am not hard on it. I got a sample first to ensure it was what I wanted and I was not disappointed. I believe they have different levels of quality also.
I think I posted this previously in a different thread, but a very good friend of mine, who is active in the Mustang community, told me that ACC's product is generally regarded as so poor that they will buy a donor vehicle just for the carpeting and then they have that dyed.
That's a heck of a lot of time, trouble and expense, and I doubt anyone would so that if ACC's product was just slightly sub standard.

Just for fun I called SMS and spoke with a salesman. Their carpet is also from ACC.
He said "They're the only game in town". I replied "...that from personal experience ACC's carpet was crappy". I was somewhat surprised when he said "I don't disagree with you".
So, I guess if you want carpeting for your truck you might as well shop based on price alone because it's the same **it.
I suspect that if one searches through Hemmings Motor News they could find several companies that sell high quality automotive carpet. The downside is you would have to cut and fit it yourself, or find an upholstery shop that can do it.
Required a red carpet for my '77 Explorer. Wasn't sure what manufacturer to look at. Went to my local pick-a-part yard last weekend. Found a '79 Ranger XLT with black/red interior. Factory carpet was in really good shape with the heel pad intact. $15. Very lucky with the timing.

Well, Ranger76 and I thought it out and he's just gonna install home carpet in his truck
with my carpet, I had no problems, I guess the duds are not as rare as the good ones
