im gonna be swapping my cab off my old 87 f-250 7.3 and putting on a very nice 90 f-150 cab and all front end parts. does anyone know what i should do to keep my vin#s on the swap. i think theres one up by windshield as well as the sticker on the cab corner. any advice would be appreciated.
If you have to remove the windshields you could swap the vin tag that is riveted on. Half the trucks around here, the sticker on the cab corner is no longer readable, as they've been painted over and so on over the years.

Not legally but i guess the penalty would require getting caught. Cannot tamper with the rivets and tag.
So if I put a half ton cab on a one ton truck, it has to be registered with the weight ratings of the half ton? That would put the bare truck overweight right there, and would get me in a lot more trouble. I would only do it if I had the ownerships from both trucks anyway, so that I know there is no question of theft or anything.
Instead of trying to get legal advice on this site for your particular situation, I would drive down to your local DMV and tell them what you want to do and get the correct procedure. This will keep you from investing a lot of time and money and getting burnt in the end. Auto body parts replacement and repair is done every day so it would seem that your provincial government auto licensing department has a procedure in place. Be safe, get the answer from the Horses mouth!!
I to am gonna be swaping caps, and i'm keeping my old VIN, i'm keeping my entire original interior. All i'm doing is swaping the sheet metal really....
Yeah thats what i thought alot of beaurocratic red tape... it kinda stinks that your ok to swap everything excluding the cab. like another poster said if you got one ton or in my case a f-250 with a shot cab im aiming on putting on a sweet f-150 cab and front end. i know if i go to penn dot they will give the me the runaround to the point where i just might as well go get a 97 or 98 model truck. I think i will play this one on the (QT) as think others will too. As always much appreciated input
