what is the cost in comparison to an aftermarket set that replaces all of them and increases performance? Which brands are good and are they safe to run if I do not need head studs?
ok so i got my truck back from Ford this afternoon.... $350 to diagnose it
the ICP sensor needs to be replaced
the EGR cooler is leaking and there is moisture n the EGR system. The EGR cooler is still holding pressure but it could definitley be replaced.
They re-flashed the truck and updated the FICM
I ordered the full EGR Delete from First Coast this afternoon
What is the part # for the screen I will need when I do the install?
Where is the best place to get the oil cooler and what are the pro's and cons of rebuilding vs buying a new one???
on a 6 hour trip saturday, my 6.0 started blowing white smoke out the exhaust. I had a local garage check and they said it was fuel, not oil, coolant, etc. so i took off for home, 6 hours away. 3 hours into it, the temp gauge was straight up (buddy driving), looked like a steam engine out the exhaust. I put 5 gallons water in reservoir, then coolant. Limped home. Garage will get it Wednesday, but now there is oil leaking from exhaust. What am I looking at here? EGR valve, head gaskets, cracked head??? Just want the bad news early.
Having run it that low on coolant there's an excellent possibility that a head is cracked... but add EGR Cooler and Oil Cooler to the list. Could be any or all of the above.
I forgot to mention that it was difficult to start this afternoon, sort of like the battery was weak. after it started to turn over, it still took a couple of cranks to run. i'm not sure what is wrong, i am just looking for some idea of what to expect when it goes to the garage on wednesday. thanks for the help.
