Looking to replace the fuel pump in a 97 ford explorer 4x4.
It is a 4.0L VIN "X" .
I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction to purchase the part.
Is it a modular pump design? I am confused because When I "googled" it The picture show both a small electric motor and a modular design.
Which one is right for me? thanks.
I have also a 97 and God willing it won't have any more problems than it already has. Met a buddy of mine today that has a 95 that just had his pump replaced at a cost of $800? Glad to hear your trying to do this yourself. Good luck with your search.
what you were probably seeing on google was a picture of just the fuel pump itself which is actually located inside the modular design. as for buying the part i would recommend just going to a junkyard and buying the whole modular sender as a unit. it would probably be the cheapest easiest way to go.
ended up being the tube in side the tank that connects to the pump. the fuel inlet line had ripped, causing the fuel to shoot back into the tank instead of up to the engine. I replaced the fuel pump. found a used one at a bone yard.
