backfires

so my truck runs and drives down the road like a champ, but whenever i start it it always backfires. then when i go from drive to park the engine goes crazy and it starts backfireing alot! what could be causing thins?

Sounds like the choke is open when you're starting it.

I agree with fmc400, sounds like the choke may not be closing. This will cause a lean condition during cold start up resulting in backfiring through the carb.
