so, i took my dirtbike out to the place me and my buddies ride. on the way i had to spalsh through a couple mudholes. when i left later that afternoon, my speedometer was not working and neither was my odometer. i checked fuses, i cleaned the speed sensor on the tranny, i checked everything i could possibly think of... still nothing. i think it is related to the mud/water, it has happened before but it fixed itself after a while. i need to get this fixed in order to pass inspection. anyone know what is going on?
i finally got i working. i pulled all the fuses and cleaned the box with an air gun, then i cleaned the connection at the rear differential with electrical cleaner.

Good for you! This helps me. I haven't been able to get to mine in several days. Which do you think fix it? The Vss at rear differential or fuse box?
i have no clue. i did them both at the same time. i suggest doing both of them. i think the cause was water, cause like i said it happened after i went through a rather large puddle
i had that problem with my 95 bronco. try putting a different fuse in, mine looked and read on an electric meter but couldnt flow the electricity. but also check the conection and condition of the wires goin to the sensor. goodluck
