HMMWV Conversion

I found a site that sells plans for HMMWV (or Hummer H1 as you non military folks like to put it.) bodies and i was thinking about doing this eventually. The site is http://www.tremormuv.com I got the idea from the FSB forums where a guy converted an 87 f150 into a Hummer H1 using those plans for the body. I want to get all you guys opinions on it I think it would be an awesome thing to do

Ford F150 + Homemade Hummer Body = Ford H150 (Build Thread) This guy did it And it looks awesome IMHO

Beats hell outa' the typical SBC/BBC in a Ford build project. Might as well take a Ford & turn it into the most over-priced GM there is...

yeah i thought about even using a 7.3l psd in it with an e4od maybe idk yet though

i thought about the same thing but i was looking at the kit they had on extreme 4x4 a few years ago but when i got every thing tallied up the $16k was a little high to be running a ford chassis

well this isnt really a kit is is more plans you buy for $425 then buy all the steel then cut and weld yourself. I am a good welder so it will be no sweat for me and the steel will only cost me around 1600 to 2000 dollars to make the body. The expensive part will be finding the hood because all Humvee hoods are fiberglass. I found a company oversees that makes them but the minimum order is 1 40HQ Container containing 47 pieces and i would have to pay for all the items, the shipping from china, the importing fees and taxes, the customs inspections, and all that so i said i will try to find one from the naval base here in memphis tn

he is just slow

i could do it in about 4 weeks if thats all i done and had all the tools on hand and materials and a place to get out of the weather lol
