ok this has been bugging me for well ever since i got my truck in January of 09... how many other people have problems with getting gas in there Flaresides? i have to put the nozzle at a really cockeyed angle and only let it flow bout half speed or else itll shut off like its full.. now is it just how the fuel filler hose is angled or is it something wrong... i have looked at the hose but it dont look kinked up or anything... any ideas???
i have a '93 flareside, just filled up yesterday for the first time and didnt have any problems, that was on the front though, havent tried the rear yet.....
i know what your talking about though, ive had a couple of cars over the years that you had to hold the nozzle in just the right way to get the gas to flow

i always use the front as my rear tank has a leak... crap i forgot bout that... dayum another thing to do....
I own a styleside not a flareside. My 1988 f150 with a 302 v8. The front tank does not work. the rear does. When I bought it, the left leaf springs where bad, so It sat at a very aukward lean. About 10 inches different when you measured the bumper from the right to the left. Very tough to get the gas in. If you poured it in with a gas can, it would act like it was a clogged drain on a sink and not go down very well at all. So, I would keep my back straight. grab the bumper, and lift up this would make it accept gas. I've fixed the leaf springs since then, and it still does it now and then. But, not NEARLY as bad. I click the gas nozle at the pump to the slowest setting, and it will stop at a dollar or two. When I play with the fuel trigger it will start accepting gas with in a few minutes. I've heard there is some valve that prevents the gas from going down into the tank. Thats my experiences and 2 cents. Other wise I have rarely had this happen with other vehicles.
Our '87 styleside does the same thing with the rear tank. On the pumps in town, with three notches in the latch, I could never get it past the first one.

yeah, mine does it on the rear as well. I'm not in a huge hurry though. That is, im not in a hurry to spend a lot on gas
