I think this will fit over, but they do make some nie, SS muffler clamps (wrap around and have 2 1/2" bolts to clamp it shut). I have a set on my old Corvette, and they work great (and last forever).
I think I have decided to take it to a local exhaust shop. They quoted me a price of somewhere between $60-$100 over the phone. I would have to spend $$ on clamps, flex-pipe and a hanger, plus my time, so I figure, its worth it. If they have to run 4" from the muffler back it would still only be about $100. I am taking it this afternoon and will let you know how it goes.
I finally wore out my original (yes @ 68k miles) BFG tires, so looking for new tires.
Since I'm lifted 2", the original tire size look sridiculous (LT265/75R16/e), so I'm looking for a larger tire. I'd likean All-Terrain tire, same width (265=10.5"), but taller (85 series woul dget me 33.5" versus original 33.5") in load range E, but there is no such tire made.
I ended up paying a local exhaust shop to weld the muffler. Cost me $60. It was worth it, it saved me money on couplers and hangers, time, and aggravation. I am happy with the muffler so far. It isnt a lot louder, just a little, which is good. At first, though, there was a slight drone that I didnt like. For whatever reason, that seems to have subsided. Maybe I just got used to it, but, I dont think so. I havent put enough miles on it to know if I gained any mileage, but, I have to believe it is breathing easier now. I will let you know when I get some concrete numbers on mileage. After the intake and muffler, the power delivery is definitely a lot smoother. There used to be high and low spots under hard acceleration, but not anymore. I ripped that foil off and chucked that AIH, too. That turbo cruises down the road Whistlin' Dixie now!!!!
