Recently purchased a 2010 limited for the wife w/ the remote start. I don't understand how the remote start works. I find the manual useless.
Before i get into it i have a factory remote start for my excursion (excellent manual). You lock it then press the start button. it starts, then one of three things can happen: hit the brakes dies, put key in ignition, or the time runs out and dies. I was able to program how long to wait before trying to start (its a diesel) and how long to idle before it dies w/out putting in the key (15 min).
Now for the pos expedition remote start, i can start it but when i unlock the door and then open the door the car dies. can anyone shed some light on how its suppose to work?
Hey TD... Ever get this sorted? What you're talking about doesn't sound like normal operation. My guess is wiring problem on the install or module gone bad.
I've got the programming manual if you want a copy?
i took it to the dealer. their head tech had to call ford tech support. the 2010 remote start has new programming.
Any time you open the door it kills the engine. A new safety feature, THAT F-IN BLOWS.............. If i had known that I would not have paid for the option.
OK after a quick search here's what i found. MyKey is the problem and it can be disabled, see link.
