when i first start my truck on a cold morning it smokes so much someone literally stopped and pulled in my driveway because they thought my house was on fire......
It clears up when its fully warm and i notices some stuttering / sputtering during regular acceleration just today.
I have not chacked on the EGR in a bit, should I delete it?
I have MBRP turbo back, and SCT X3 from Eric with tow agg, extreme street, and extreme race... I do all of my daily driving on the extreme street tune and I have had it for over a year... Im really scared that it may be a head gasket issue
It doesn't necessarily need plugged in at that temp but it does help. Heck I can crank mine up at 0 without it being plugged in and it cranks right up. So I would have to say about yours is, do you have the latest flash? What oil are you using? And possible injector issues.

i can plug it in but it starts right up even when its below 0... Latest Flash? What do you mean? Im running custom tunes, i dont think i can update it without messing up the tuner. Im usine rotella T syn oil. I was thinking possible injector issues too... How can I tell for sure?
Well the latest flash from Ford deals with the cold start issues. And yea, I think you are right about missing up you tunes. Are you using any coolant? If not I would say it is not your head gaskets. Maybe you should try a different setting on your tuner. If it is an injector or two you should be able to track it down my looking at you glow plugs and see if they are wet or not. Maybe even take it in and put it on a reader and see if there is any codes thrown. That is where I would start. Are you using 5w40 or 15w40?
im using 15w40 and im due for an oil change right now so i may change it this afternoon.. Im going to check my anti freeze to see if im using any.. Im also setting up an appt to have the anti freeze flushed.. I have 88,000 miles and its due to be flushed..
Im hoping its not head gasket issues.. I got laid off from my job 2 weeks ago and it would suck to pay $3K to get studs / head gaskets installed right now...

If your using 15W40 you are not using syn. oil! Rotella syn. oil is 5W40 and you might give it a try.
Do you park your truck on an inclined driveway with the nose facing the downhill side? If so, you may be collecting coolant in the intake through the egr cooler so when you start it, the coolant goes through the engine which causes the smoke.
I noticed my truck smoking slightly in the cold and it would stop after a minute or two. I chalked it up to the cold but then one day, I was backing out of a buddies driveway that has a steep incline and that truck smoked so much backing up the hill that I couldn't see to back out into the street. As soon as it was level again, the smoke stopped.
The problem ended up being an oil cooler with sand in it that eventually caused the egr cooler to fail. Luckily, it happened a month before the warranty expired so it was all fixed by Ford.
you know what... yes, my driveway has a slope toward the street and i always back in.. It slopes down hill.
I can park it in a different spot but how do i figure out if i have more of an issue (other than taking it to the dealer?) how can i truoble shoot on my own?
Park the truck with the nose pointed uphill to see if it smokes less on cold startup. If it seems to smoke less at cold start up, that will be your first clue.
Then park the truck like you usually do with the nose facing downhill and pop the EGR valve before cold startup. If there's coolant in the intake, that's your second clue pointing towards a leaky EGR cooler.
You can pull the egr valve out with it parked facing down hill. I should sit like this overnight to get a clear picture. With the valve out, look to see if it is wet or if there is any moisture down in the hole where the egr valve goes. It should be dry.
