I thought about posting this in the 97-03 section but I think it will get more traffic here. I been getting this code off and on. P0430 Catalytic Efficiency Below Threshold Bank 2. From what I've read from basic research it could be:
- o2 Sensor
- Catalytic Converter
- Plugs/Wires
- Other
My question is, if it were the o2 sensor, which o2 sensor is bank 2, and what do they mean by bank 2? Is there a way of testing the o2 sensor itself with a multimeter and seeing if it is good or bad that way? And is it an easy part to get to?
The truck has 160,000 Miles, and runs smooth as silk.
I recently got it from my good friend, and I think it is probably in need of plugs and wires anyway, so I'm going to go that route first, but I want to be sure the o2 sensor is not the problem. And the last thing I'd consider doing is changing out the cat it being the most costly.
