Well once again it is time for my yearly inspection in order to renew my tag. And once again I failed to pass the emissions test. I get a P0430 code (Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 2)). I replaced the O2 sensor hoping to alleviate my problem, but as usual it was not that easy. I have tested for Exhaust leaks & have found none. I do have dual exhaust (2.25' into 2 Flowmaster 40 series into 3" to tail pipe). The shop that installed the exhaust says that the convertor is not the problem. Does anyone have a clue as to what else I may look at for the cause of this code before I throw more money in the wrong direction?
Have you scanned the system with a good OBD2 scanner to watch both of your o2 sensors for their switching rate and proper voltage changes? also when relieving the exhaust back pressure it doesn't alow the exhaust to stay in the cat long enough for it to burn thus the downstream o2 will cause the dtc. This a possible reason.S
Some other things to look at are
the wiring to the o2 sensors bad.
Oil contamination(bad rings or valve seals)
Bad fuel regulator causing a slightly rich condition
Maf dirty.
But you really need to look at the o2 sensors while they are working in order to see what they are doing.

Sorry to get back so late. I have had the codes read @ 3 different places. They all come up with the same code. I asked the guy that did the exhaust work about the back pressure and he said that the flowmasters should have enough to keep it from throwing a code. I also asked if it being true duals (no H pipe connection) would throw a code. He still doesn't think it would. I appreciate the help. I will look @ a few more things & if it doesn't fix the issue I think I may just sell the truck. I need more room anyway.
