I also understood the FX4 came with limited slip diffs front and rear from Ford. While I know I can do these things myself, of course, it was a want. Originally stated as my "dream truck" For example, I even have a color in mind...
When I look for a truck I do the same thing as you are talking about. I plan every thing about it from the rear end, color, engine, etc, and then I go look for it. If I find two that are almost what I want, I rule out the one that is harder to change what I don't like(color being harder to change than rear end ratio). Certain things I can overlook. If it's the right color, but wrong engine, it won't pull my trailers. I hate white trucks, but one of mine is white for that very reason. So I understand where you are coming from.
As for the fx4, this is from four wheel magazine-The FX4 moniker is applied to both the F-150 and the Ranger, but though the name is the same for each of these trucks, the packages are different. For the F-150, the FX4 package consists of 17-inch cast aluminum wheels, Rancho shocks, skidplates, 3.55 gears, and 265/70R17 tires. Oh, yes...and the FX4 decals.
It doesn't mention if the 3.55's are LS, but they did say they absolutely did not like the 3.55's and would have preferred the optional 3.73's.
