2000 7700 emergency/parking brake shoes..
I have two different issues w/ my e-brake.
1. Cables I am sure are rusted up- due to the ebrake dragging = wearing out pads= no ebrake AT ALL. Per info on the board, I will lube the heck out of that pivot pin you all talk about. May replace my ebrake cables as well.
2. On my last 7700, the 'stealership' claimed they had to slide the rear axle out to get to the ebrake shoes. I didn't have a chance to look at the system. Is this correct? I need to get the truck inspected and it'll fail w/o an ebrake.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

99 F250LD here, no need to remove rear axle to check e-brake shoes, just pull rear rotors off and the brake shoes are inside. Its a rotor/drum combo. Mine were shot when I bought me truck, very easy to change.
Also, my e-brake cable was seized going to the drivers side rear, it is about 4 feet long. Tried to lube it, but it was way too far gone. Completely rusted through the whole length. Ordered a new one from the dealer for $25. Might want to start with that, I don't suggest putting too much time into trying to lube it because it probably wont last anyway, it'll just do it again.

sounds exactly like the standard f150 with disc brakes. personally i dont like the design. if the cables dont freeze up then the little lever/actuator does. id like to se one with one of those brakes thats right behind the trans on the drive shaft. i think that would be a much better set up
