RBP rim problems

Is there anyone else having issues with their chrome RBP rims corroding and pitting? I saved up my deployment money from my last trip to Iraq and bought what I thought was a great set of high dollar rims. I received these in September of 2009 and have only put about 3,000 miles on them as was deployed again for a short trip back to Iraq. I live in Tennessee so constant salt on the roads is not really an issue. I have only washed my wheels at the local carwash using soap with the brush and then rinse cycle. One rim is not too bad but the other 3 look like the front bumper on a 55 Chevy (because Fords don’t rust right?). The rest of my factory Ford chrome looks great even the chrome steps right behind the tires so I am scratching my head. I am guessing that the problem is the chrome is just too thin. So if you have chrome RPB rims go clean them off and let me know if it’s just me and my rims that were made on Friday at 5 o’clock. I feel like I paid top dollar for cheep crap.

I don't have the wheels you're posting about. Have you contacted RBP? Make sure to send them a link to this thread.

You shouldn't have a finish problem on aftermarket wheels after such a short time.

If RBP doesn't pony up to fix them problem, a local plating shop may be able to help.

You should still have some kind of manufacturers warranty on those - or at least I hope so. For the price you paid for that name, they should bend over backwards and kiss your feet for the error.

Talk to the dealer that sold you the rims. Take pictures if you got them mail order and send them. This is not right and they need to know.

And thank you for what you have done for all of us...

Thanks for the help. I did contact RBP and Lexani, the company that owns them. The rims are covered by a one year finish warranty. The kicker is they want me to send them the rims so they can look them over and then decide whether they will cover them under the warranty. The process will take at least a couple of weeks. That leaves me without a truck for that time. How can any do with out their primary transportation for a couple weeks???? I offered to scan in my receipt and send pictures in order to work around me not having my truck. They refused sticking to their guns. It seems to me like an unrealistic requirement that will hopefully get me to drop it and keep what I have. Ill let you know what happens.

I got the rims locally. I insisted the shop take them back and give me a different set. Later Lexani, the parent company for RBP, refused to warranty them for the shop because they got break dust on them. It was the most ridiculous thing I ever heard of. The shop call me and told me about the warranty rejection and I told them not to stock crappy rims, even if they are high dollar trendy crap. Tell your buds to stay away from RBP and lexani.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>

Wanting to see & touch 'defective' parts is pretty standard for manufacturers. They don't trust their direct customers (the distributor or retailer) or the end buyer. That does make it very inconvenient for us.

Brake dust should be expected on road wheels. [sarcasm] How about rain? Are you allowed to get them wet? [sarcasm off]

Did you get stiffed out of your deployment money? Or did the shop eat it?

I was taken care of by 4 wheel parts. RPB ended up screwing them out of the warranty because "the rims were exposed to brake dust". So if I were you I would tell your buds to stay away from Lexani and RBP unless you have a way of keeping brake dust off your wheels.

That's a freaking joke, I will be sure to stay away from them. Thanks for the heads up.

No problem. Just trying to keep others from sharing my pains with a crappy company. Spread the word!

Nice EX I have the same one in a diesel. No substitute for black.
