Any know who makes a good suspension lift? Just bought 01 and looking for a lift. Not sure if I want a 4inch or 6inch. Any one has any info on what to look for and what to stay away from. I was looking at fabtech.
Fabtech makes a very good lift from what I have learned. Jeff (WARanger) hopefully will chime in he has a lift on his truck and is happy with it. Clay from Riff Raff will be able to offer some guidance as well.
My personal recomendation is RevTek for the everyday utilitarian lift. They are low on bling, but high on build quality and Ride Quality.
I had a 4" rough country and eventually ripped it out and threw it away. Decided to go with Revtek, and couldn't be happier. I now have their 4" kit on my 99 Crew, my wifes Excursion and an 8 inch on my buddies 02. That was after having the 6" lift. My buddies 02 crew has the full meal deal RevTek with the dual front shocks and dual steering stabilizer. When it had the 6" kit it was honestly the best riding Super Duty I have ever been in.
No noise, no clunks, perfect shock damping. Again, not much bling factor, and not a desert runner suspension, but in my opinion perfect for the daily driver truck who just wants to install and be done with.
And yes there is a Revtek Sticker on the truck, we do not work for them or make any commission. We have their suspension ONLY because I was impressed with the quality, and they are local to us.
If you want the best riding leaf spring lift, then go with ICON hands down. It is a little more expensive. BUT WELL WORTH it... my truck with a 12.5" lift rides as good or better then stock. Spend a little bit more money on some good shocks, I have Icon's cheapest reservoir shocks. You can get a great deal on an ICON lift from Riffraff Diesel, shoot Clay an email sales@riffraffdiesel.com. That is where I got mine from.
IMO, Revtek will never get my business. Even if they are in Portland, less then 100 miles away. They burned Milleroutdoors on some warranty work, left a bad taste in my mouth... LOL
I am glad some have had good experience with rev-tech. I too love the ride my truck has with the 4" lift. Unfortunately I would recommend against buying one for 2 reasons, 1 premature bushing failure, ( not just mine but others I have seen fist hand), 2 when I contacted the company they were absolutely unhelpful. If not for Les Schwab I would have been out the cost of the bushings. Rev-Tech would not send me the repair bushings nor tell the name of the spring manufacturer. Had to get them from Les Schwab whom to date have not billed me for the replacement bushings. I would recommend Icon lift kits or if you are doing it yourself, I would order Deaver springs.
I really like the way my Superlift rides, but as I recently pointed out to another member on here, my truck weighs in at 8620lbs. A cool 800-900lbs more than the other truck, and it makes a huge diff. I did a lot of research when I went to invest in a lift, with help from others on FTE I decided to go with Superlift. They had the most bang for the buck, 10 leafs for the front springs and free Bilstien 5100 upgrade at the time. Now the bad- Like Mark, my bushings went south and front springs started to sag over time. No big deal, bushings wear, but the sagging bothered me. I called Superlift, Lifetime Warranty, and they were not helpfull at all. 4Wheel Parts took care of me though. The other problem I have with Superlift is they use springs that are made in India. Nothing against India, but..........I would go with Deaver like Mark said, or any company that uses them. If I didn't have DRASTIC front suspension mods in mind for the future, I would even check into having a set of springs made locally and go with a box kit from any of the manufacturers. There was no diff between the pitman arm Icon sent with there kit and the one Rev Tec used with theres. For that matter, There was no noticable diff between the trac arm drop bracket that Superlift uses and the Icon unit I seen. I would get ahold of Clay and see what he can do for you though. I know that was long and maybe a little scatter brained, but I'm tired............LOL
Thanks guys for all the info. Any one out there have info on fabtech? Who is deaver is it a spring company? Looks like ICON got my vote so far. I will wait for more chimes.
