Who is planning to go to the Super Nats this year? We had a brief thread on the subject prior to the FTE upgrade. A couple of the 48-60 forum guys have emailed me regarding the possibility of getting together at some point during the Nats.

I guess if everyone would post the days they plan to attend we could go from there. Maybe FTE has something going already. I don't know so someone who has attended before can lead us in the right direction. I will be attending from Wednesday night until Saturday.

DeWayne...

of course I'll be there... missed last year due to family wedding... imagine the nerve...them getting married on THAT weekend...

I'll probably come in late Thursday evening (I hope) but might be on Friday due to wifes deliveries.... waaaay too early to tell... FTE used to try to do a breakfast on Sat morn at Alan Jacksons place (now under new management) and it was pretty well attended... I'd suggest something like that again..... it's hard to get a reservation for a party of 20 or so ... most places won't accomodate you... maybe a few of us could get together for pancakes or a steak friday nite... there are several new friends I need to eyeball.... you, Rage, George (s) and I'm sure Kai is coming... don't you think

talk it up and lets see what everyone thinks... might help to get Ken or Don's input also...

John ( I love FTE and pancakes)

BTW you ain't been lurking over at HAMB have you

Hey maybe I'll even make it this year... if I lock myself in the garage until early may and only come out to make parts runs. Either that or if maybe some of you guys wanna swing past west michigan on your way and help me push my extended cab down
Honestly chances are that I won't be able to make it this year, but who knows, if I get going on my F-3 maybe you boys will see me down there 2004. I'm sure you wouldn't miss seeing my toy (but then again I might not want a bunch of old guys leaving druel marks all over my paint) J/K Anyways, I'll look forward to meeting yal sooner or later.

Jon

John, now that was mean! I bet Kai attends one sooner than you think. He's a worldly sort.

<<<BTW you ain't been lurking over at HAMB have you>>>

Not much, my Canadian FTE buddies would miss me here too much.

Hey John, .... sorry, can't make it this time. Too bad that the Milky Way F100 Superdupernationals are at the same time. This time the meet is on the moon (our moon, not one of those dashing around Venus or so ...). As I mentioned in another thread I have modified my speedo to 1.200 kph (120 Mph Autometer with special underdrive transmission) so that the needle won't break off (again) when I dash down on the left lane on the Autobahn to the moon.

... but I am still looking for someone who is willing to carry around a 1:1 photo of me mounted on cardboard (that's just two dimensional, but shipping is cheaper that way) while being at the Super Nats. You qualified !!! Let me have your address so that I can arange the shipping.

John, I was talking about that card board Kai clone that I would ship to you. I sure know that all truckers have a belly.

'fenders, et al... I cannot get Mrs. H. to sign my permission slip to go to PA in my truck to see trucks. She turned down my offer to drive her many hundreds of miles from west Texas in a 50 year old truck for her vacation. She reminded me that I am rewiring the studio and building a new roof for studio, shop and back porch... with what time and money is left I am to make my truck stop better. Then she reminded me of the two week session I am teaching at the theater this summer to help defray some of the above costs.
Rather than send a 2-d version of self to the Supers, I will build a full scale ceramic replica of himmelberg in 3 dimensions that you might put wherever you decide to put the cardboard version of Kai.
Now I've got to go see if she will sign a paypal slip for that neat set of valve covers on ebay.... best. himmelberg

Unhappy Pigeon Forge 2003

I would truly love to be there, but......

1. I'll be outa work by then so I can't afford it .

2. I vowed this past summer, never to go to another major rod run with a spectator type vehicle. It'll be years before my 54 is ready to attend. Much as I would love to see that many F100s in one place, it would just be too heart breaking....

However, it would almost be worth it just to grab ahold of that 'fenders character (assuming his wife lets him outa the house long enough.)

Hmmm, time away from 'fenders - she's probably willing to pay his way....

Later,

Regarding spectator type vehicle:

RMF

I know exactly what you mean. I hate to attend another event as an "F100 groupie" but it looks very probable at this point.

Tsk, tsk, tsk. Dewayne, I've said this a dozen times here and I'll say it one more. If my truck was anywhere near as close to complete as yours, not only would it be at the Forge, it would have several thousand miles on it before then! Focus, man! Focus! The end is near!

I'm not thrilled about doing the groupie thing either, but there isn't time to get mine even close to it's first trip out of the driveway, let alone a 350 mile trip to the land of Elvis. There is, however, a brand new Hawg with only a shade past 500 miles on it parked right next to the truck's carcass. Barring rain, I smell a wiggin' road trip! Then again, the '51 that I just bought in Oct. is still in one piece. A hardcore brake job and some front-end tightening might get it that far. Anybody dare me?!? Who knows. Maybe I'll just walk!

DeWayne, Rage... whoever

I can't believe you guys... whining cause your truck isn't finished and you don't want to be a groupie... we're all groupies !!! whether our truck is there or not...

I can't imagine (discounting threat of death by your spouse) not going... where else in this hemisphere can you find such a collection of machinery we love, knowledge we lust for, supplies we save for and fellowship that we need... I've learned more in two days at P.F. than the rest of the days of the year in Hueytown..

I'm going and I'm whining cause my truck isn't finished... and I'm swearing to bring it next year (this will be the 7th anniversary of that sequence)...

see ya'll there...

'rage

I know you aren't going to spend serious money on a Drunken Monkey Clip? You're blowin smoke, consider yourself Double Dog Dared!

I would love to drive my truck but I don't want the maiden voyage to be a botched 500 mile family vacation spent in your driveway mooching baling wire. I'll never get the bugs shook out by then. Badgerland Show at the Dells is in September is a more reasonable goal.

John,

I'll be there in groupie mode having a blast. 'rage or someone else on this forum will tell my wife how impressed they are that I was almost done with my truck and only 42K invested (or some other ridiculous number). She'll ask about it on the way home somewhere in Kentucky. It'll be great.
