There is definately an airport in Knoxville and it's a nice leisurely drive to teh Forge from Kville. right through Dolly Parton's hometown (ever notice there are several mountains there). Just come from Knoxville on I 40 east and turn off at Sevierville...You're there...
I won't be going because my wife booked a cruise that week and said if I didn't go she'd get someone rich and good looking to go with...she'd do it too...lol at least she can't sell my truck...it's in my name...
Won't know for a few days yet, but there's a small possibility that rather than being unemployed in 2 wks, I may get a 2 -3 month extension - only problem is, it will be in Trenton, N.J.
(Ah, N.J. - where the sewer meets the sea )
If that's the case, then i might just fly out so's i can spill beer all over 'Rage and 'fenders. I'll be the one in the toque, galoshes, sheepskin coat and fuzzy plaid pants. Oh yah and the mitts with the idiot strings.
I've been there the past two years, and I, too, have learned more than the cost of going there.
Since I'm in Seattle, I fly to Knoxville (FF tickets <GRIN>) and drive up. I'll arrive on Wednesday and catch up with many friends that I've met there including fellow club members of the Georgia Low Riders (great barbeque or potluck on Friday night).
I also film the entire show and it plays on a automobile TV show here in Seattle.
This is a MUST SEE event for F100 lovers.
Check out my website at http://www.geocities.com/tkbowman for pictures from the 2001 show. 2002 was similar and it was just too time consuming to post so many pictures as I did the first year.
I've been to the last 2 years and loved it. I'm going this year again especially since its the 50th of the F100. My truck is at leats 3-5 years from making this trek. I'm planning on heading out early tuesday morning from Ontario, so that I can be there Tuesday afternoon to watch the convoy of 15 trucks from Ontario plus whomever joins along the way, roll into the Forge. I would really like to get together with anyone from this great group of FTE's at any point during the 5 days I'm there. I have promised the SO that we'll do a little sigthseeing to Gatlinburg and the Smokies but she knows ther's also time allocated to the show. Hope to see you there and I hope to see some details of some get togethers.
BTW beverages derived from barley will have to be enjoyed in Sevierville or Gatlinburg because PF is dry. Although this didn't stop us from enjoying a few out of a coffee mug as we watched the Friday and saturday night parade from the front lawn of our hotel.
When it gets closer to time and people have made firm decisions, we'll set something up for sure. Probably 2 different meeting days if I have my way, since people will arrive on different dates.
You can count me in, I'll be there for at least a couple of days, not sure which ones yet. I'll be the newest college graduate in town, graduating on May 10. I can't wait to see some of these cool trucks!
I will be making my first trip down to the 'nats this year. Looking forward to getting some good ideas to finish the truck. Driving down from connecticut on thursday morning.

Originally posted by fatfenders I would love to drive my truck but I don't want the maiden voyage to be a botched 500 mile family vacation spent in your driveway mooching baling wire. I'll never get the bugs shook out by then. Badgerland Show at the Dells is in September is a more reasonable goal.
Weenie! One of my buddies had about 20 total miles on his before we blasted off on the ~925 mile (each way) trip. Other than breaking the output shaft housing on the C4 and changing it in a parking lot, it was great!
I plan to be there. I hope to be in the front parking lot and will be flying the U.S. and or Texas and or Gonzales (TX battle) flags.
