My 66 F-100 is having carb problems.
I completely rebuilt it... including float.
It's still having the same problem. It'll run but then puke fuel out of the vent tubes in the top of the carb. I can give it a little gas and it quits doing this.
Is the float set to high or to low, or what?
If its not the float, what would it be?
Please let me know as I have never had this problem after doing a rebuild.
I don't have any fancy tools at my house
so how could I check the fuel pressure?
It shouldn't be that high... just a stocker mechanical fuel pump
Any ideas on how to check it would be appreciated.
Also... it only over flows like at an idle... give it a bit of gas, it dont overflow... because it uses the fuel Im assuming.
Unless you've changed the pump right before you dug in to the carb, I'd say it's fine. You need a simple presure gauge to check it. Float height is the most likely problem as you said it stops when reved up, thus it's using the volume and not overfilling.

I gotta redo some trans lines tho... some moron ran rubber lines ABOVE the exhaust manifold and they fell down onto the exhaust yesterday and burnt a hole thru it.
Now I gotta fix that before I can run the truck again.

Use steel 5/16 line it's right next to the brake line at the autoparts store. You'll need a good bender and most likely a couple of union fittings but the flare ends should fit right in to the rad and trany with no problems.

That's what I had planned on doing.
I was just going to spot repair that piece of hose with a piece of steel line and hose clamps. It only burnt about 3 inches out of it. I'll replace the full lines when I get the 460 built and ready to swap inplace of the 390
