If it is the vinyl type then it should fit fine. But if it's one of the hard fiberglass covers, we may want to compare notes on tailgate height between the two beds. I think the height is the same, but I know for sure the latches are in different places, and the late 50-52 top edge is reinforced (maybe just thicker).
yeah I was looking at the vinyl ones in LMC that use the Velcro and sticky tape. I'm sure there's probably a little bit of play when placing the tape if you need an extra inch or so...then again, i'd be afraid of the tape coming unstuck.
I am not yet at the point of looking seriously at tonneau cover options for the 48-early 50 F-1. I querried Kelly at Truxedo quite a while ago but at that time they (Truxedo) had no offering. I have a Truxedo soft tonneau on my 2003 Ranger that I really like the design-it works well. My current thinking is that when the time comes I am going to look at buying a Truxedo like my current cover that is oversized and doing a cut down/fab custom mounts to use it on my 49. I would use the stake pockets to mount the Truxedo side rails that support the cross tubes that keep the cover from bellying down and have the velcro side attachment strips on the underside of the rolled edge of the truck bedsides. Additional custom work will be required to fill the gap at the tailgate since the top of the tailgate is lower than the top of the bedside. If possible I will check out the boneyards for a truck that has such a cover for parts and install it with new fabric.
