All the EB axles will swap in the same, but I believe it was 75 and 76 that were the disk brake versions. I'm actually getting ready to throw my D44 and 8.8 out of my F-150 SAS into my ranger. I'm planning on narrowing the long side of my D44 to the same width of my rear and running that. I sunk SOOO much money into those axles I'm happy I'll get to run them again. I'm also planning on bobbing my bed too.

Hey Kris, in that video I posted in the other thread, that Blue ranger that Howard has, has axles out of a 78-79 Bronco. Full width and all. Easy as hell to do.....

The two main concerns with full width are that they might stick out and look funny and that we want to keep it narrow and the center of gravity low. Fender trimming is probably in line too.

I wouldn't say scared, I just don't want to deal with it. Hope that doesn't upset you.

"All these plans" ?
I have done most of my plans for my F-350.. shackle reversal, shackle flip, bed lined the inside, rewired the engine. I even have bought the 42's, I just need to buy some new wheels and mount them. The only plans I havn't done that I had planned were the gears, which I am putting off, and the engine upgrades which got bumped to summer due to house payments.

Oh. It must not have happened because I don't have a working camera. Sorry.
Stop getting my thread off-topic. If you want to discuss my F-350, PM me and i'd be happy to.

Thanks.

both explorerforum and therangerstation have tons of solid axle swaps, every possible configuration you could think of. 1 ton full width, 1/2 ton full width and stock width, D30s from jeeps, D44s from jeeps and wagoneers, D44s from 70s ford, and early broncos, too. D60s and 14bolt combos, i think i even saw one explorer on rockwells.

Anything you want to do with a ranger, its probably been done with a good writeup over there.

A ranger with one tons would be kind of cool, but its just not for this build. I will check out the other sites and see what I can dig up. Thanks for the links.

Hey prozon, just so you know the full size axle is easy to narrow. and if you can't find an EB D44 you can shorten the full size axle 6 inches on the long side, and run an eb inner axle. From what I've read, the EB D44 is easy to swap in.

Shortening a full width axle is definately an option. So I can use an EB inner axle with the full width tube shortened 6 inches?

I'll have to look into that... sounds like a good plan.

If you wanna confirm, just look at some aftermarket inner axles for the F-150 and EB D44 and narrow the differance in measurements. There's a few websites that go step by step in narrowing the housing

Sounds easy enough.
I'll give a look around.

Just waiting on some income to get it started now.

I'm going out to the shop today to look at narrowing my D44 for the ranger. Just found an EB lift kit online that I'm going to try to get for the swap

I think that shortening an axle is my best bet. I can not find ANY EB axles on craigslist. Nobody wants to part them around here lol.

Hell.. no body even has them around here. I've only seen two EB's owned by someone around here and those are both show truck quality.
